Overview
Fitting with the UTS goal of achieving a 5-star green star rating with the Green Building Council of Australia, the Winter Gardens are a series of rooftop garden breakout spaces where staff can relax and recharge their batteries – as well as their devices. Featuring solar benches where their devices can be recharged with sustainable solar energy and mature olive trees rescued from an abandoned olive farm, the roof garden adds to the biodiversity on campus.
The Winter Garden spiral stairs, created by Active Metal, connect level 10 through 16 and is in itself one of the tallest, continuous steel spiral stairs in Sydney. Designed to continue the feeling of bringing the outdoors in, the staircases draw light through the space whilst giving students a view of the wider campus with floor to ceiling windows.
