Overview
Inspired by traditional scholarly spaces where academics can engage with current research, exchange ideas and immerse themselves in study, the UTS Reading Room is bright, airy and inviting thanks to the skylight above and the extensive glass facade.
The triple-height atrium is connected by a spiral staircase, created by the Active Metal team. With its solid steel ribbon balustrade stringer, this beautiful helix staircase fits perfectly into the state of the art building and reflects the detailing of the much larger Double Helix. Suspended over the external pavement, this stair also features a large, elliptical glass skylight in the centre at the base. This stair is a work of art in its own right.
