The mesh steel staircase in Sydney Water connecting the two levels transform the space into a practical and considered workplace.

The new West Region Delivery Team office for Sydney Water is in the heart of Sydney Olympic Park. The 1,500sqm workspace designed and constructed by inOne Projects utilize a soft contrasting palette of colors and textures. The office is over two floors with a mesh steel staircase delivered by Active Metal, which is a key part of the design to encourage team collaboration and connection. While simple in design, and compact in scale, the stair design underlines the fact that it isn’t size that makes the difference, but design certainly does. While the initial floor layout had the stair centred evenly between the band beams, it quickly became apparent that this would not work with a lightweight slab design. Active’s designers worked with our engineer team and repositioned the stair immediately to the side of the band beam to maximise the load distribution. Successful outcome, happy client!
