Overview
Active Metal collaborated with Endrim Design to create a luxury commercial office space for Susquehanna International Group (SIG) a global quantitative trading firm that specialises in derivative trading. The challenge was to design a space that would reflect the company’s entrepreneurial mindset, rigorous analytic approach, and specialisation in various financial products and asset classes.
Susquehanna International Group is one of the largest and most successful proprietary trading firms in the world, handling millions of transactions on exchanges worldwide every day. Their expertise in probabilistic thinking and game theory, combined with their advanced mathematical models.
The design intent was to create a seamless flow between the upper and lower levels. The architect opted for a wider stair (2200mm) with juxtaposition of materials, including the concrete-look treads at the base of the stairs, connecting the plinth surrounding the base of the stair. The challenge was to create a design that would be both functional and visually appealing, while reflecting the sophistication of the high-end space.
Active Metal worked closely with design team to create a design that would meet the client’s needs. The timber battens were used as a feature screen, seamlessly connecting the void down to the level below, also forming the stair balustrade. Concealed LED lighting to the black painted stainless steel handrail creates contrast against the timber and contributes to the sophistication of the high-end space. The use of high-quality materials, including timber and stainless steel, provided a modern and luxurious aesthetic.
