Overview
Initiated by the new tenant, the New York University, Welsh and Major Architects were commissioned by SHFA to design and oversee the refurbishment of the lobby for the heritage listed “Science House” building in The Rocks. Keeping with the period style of the building, Active Metal was brought in to complete the detailed works in a bronze patina finished brass.
Upon entering the building, your attention is drawn to the lobby’s focal point, a sculptural seat that was fabricated, installed and finished by Active Metal to an exceptional level of workmanship. The warmth of the patina finish complements the atmosphere of this historic building and continues throughout with the brass wrapped panels that were used to clad the walls of the lobby area and the brass handrails featured throughout.
