Mild steel and glazed balustrades, stainless steel handrails
Overview
Redevelopment of the original Roche head office building has been designed to allow for the melding of old and new styles. Working closely with the builder and architect, Active Metal created a complying glazed balustrade installation that retained the existing stair structure and cast terrazzo treads. Penetrating the treads, the mild steel posts were structurally connected to the steel stair stringers.
Stainless steel handrails and 12mm toughened glass panels completed the conversion of this ageing staircase, creating a contemporary and classy centrepiece for the building that is a focal point for visitors and staff alike.
