The state-of-the-art commercial staircase in NAB’s Sydney Headquarters hero’s the company’s collaborative values.
Designed by Make Architects and Architectus with interiors by Woods Bagot, the new location in Sydney is the first of NAB’s two brand new corporate office buildings launched in 2021, providing employees with modern facilities designed for the future of collaborative working. Home to more than 2,000 employees NAB Place Sydney is comprised of two connected spaces: the heritage-listed Shell House building and the Carrington Street tower; with the main entrance on Carrington Street.
Sustainability has been embedded in the fit-out and building design, reducing the impact on environmental resources throughout its life cycle, ranging from early design and material selection to on-site construction, building operation, occupancy, and end of life. The building has achieved a minimum 5 Star Green Star Design for office design from the Green Building Council of Australia.
The commercial staircases created by Active Metal internally connect 11 floors across 32,000 square meters of adaptable workspace that responds to NAB’s vision to ‘deliver an authentic and agile workplace experience that enables and empowers our business, people, customers, and communities to realize their potential and maximize performance’. The amphitheatre staircase finished in timber floors accommodates a social space and events auditorium for the staff to social and workshop. In total 10.5 tons of structural steel were used to fabricate the architectural stairs. With solid Australian hardwood linings to the inside and solid aluminium plate to the outside, these stairs are as eye catching as they are remarkable!
“The way we work has changed and this is about creating environments that help our people bring their best to work so that we can best serve our customers,” said Ms Ferrier, NAB Group Executive, People & Culture.
