The curved feature staircase elevates the visual depth and animation of the spaces; it’s the beating heart of Shell House.
Owned by the hospitality company The Point Group, designed by the renowned architect Woods Bagot, the Shell House restaurants and bars are housed within the 400-tonne iconic clock. “We want to offer a creative oasis in the city, the havens that become indispensable to their communities, that galvanize the trends, set standards for hospitality, or illuminate dinning in ways that feel fresh and magnetic. We like the rhythm of the crow, a clear mix of the creme of the corporate scene, the city’s socially active, and those who are looking for a new experience from both near and far” says of Brett Robinson from the Point Group. Ascending the nine stories from the Shell House lift lobby on Wynyard Lane, the dinning room and bar is an immersive space to capture the heritage and the grandeur of the 1930’s Art Deco period and its Italianate architecture.
Visually and physically connecting the dinning room and terrace located at level 9, and the sky bar located at level 10 is the curved feature staircase created by Active Metal. The staircase beautifully choreographs the journey for the visitors from the dinning room to the rooftop, which provided with a bird’s eye view of the building’s iconic 400-tonne clock tower, a fresh perspective of panoramic Sydney skyline and the bustling Sydney streets views. The feature staircase are fabricated in a floor-to-floor height of 4260mm, with a curved half circle landing and completed with steel plate balustrade steel handrails painted in maroon.
It is an excellent architectural story that layers history and architecture, materiality, texture and colour.
