Overview
Legendary Queensland company New Hope Group is a progressive mining operation that has been providing Queensland jobs for over 100 years. New Hope’s operations include New Acland Mine, Jeebropilly Mine, and Queensland Bulk Handling.
In keeping with their vision which is Energising our people, communities and customers, New Hope recently undertook a new office fitout which embodied this vision and more. Aimed to provide flexible working environments and increased staff engagement, the fit-out design by Cox Architecture also encouraged an engagement with the environment and with history.
Central and key to a truly collaborative fitout design, an internal staircase is always going to be a hero of the space. And it was certainly no different this time. Entrusted as an expert stair consultant from the get-go, Active Metal worked with all stakeholders to create a staircase that fitted the design brief both aesthetically and within budget. An uncluttered design, this stair fits seamlessly with the office environment, reflecting the exposed elements of the ceiling space while the glazed balustrades allow an unimpeded view to the Brisbane River and nearby Story Bridge.
LED lighting is recessed into the hardwood timber handrails, providing a glow that is both practical but which also serves to highlight the staircase, giving life to an otherwise inanimate object.
Active Metal were thrilled to be a part of yet another winning delivery of Brisbane feature stairs, with an iconic architect, brilliant delivery builder and sensational project manager!
