Overview
The principal revenue collection body for the Australian government and an official Australian government statutory agency, the Australian Taxation Office’s head office in Henry Street, Penrith recently underwent a dramatic refurbishment that combined design and no-nonsense functionality.
The six structural steel staircases, created by the Active Metal team, link the 7 floors together. The staircases fit seamlessly to radically enhance the collaboration of this government body, creating in effect a vertical campus. Being a standalone building with good access, Active Metal had the rare privilege of being able to deliver these stairs complete, carefully craning and inserting the structures through the building facade. Glazed balustrades and a neutral colour pallette finish the stairs off to a clean and crisp appearance.
