The Australian Museum’s Westpac Long Gallery was opened to the public last Friday, showcasing 350+ objects from the museum’s collection. Opening the new wing, funded by the NSW Government, Westpac Bank and corporate philanthropy, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said the redevelopment was a “wonderful milestone not just for the museum but for our state”.

“It’s the oldest museum in the nation and it’s wonderful to see this iconic and historic space so beautifully restored,” she said.

Also on display was the work completed by Active Metal; Cast-iron & Glass Balustrades to Level 1 & 2, Timber Handrails, Entry Staircase, Brass work to Ground Level, timber treads to new entry stair and even an Irish Elk Support Frame!

We previously showed a behind the scenes insight to the balustrade installation and cast of the iron panels, have a look here.

Congratulations to AJ Bristow for an awesome job and for including Active Metal on this landmark project!

A close up of our work is shown here in a video published by the Daily Telegraph about the opening of the gallery.
