#Active_Progress – Sydney Trains Central Hub at Clyde gets its first stairs craned in!

Share this content on social media

If you’ve ever wondered how steel staircases get into buildings, this is one way! Shown here is the all new Sydney Trains Central Hub under construction at Clyde. Designed by Jacobs and being built by A W Edwards, the building features no less than 4 curved inter-tenancy staircases and a structural steel link bridge. Active Metal will complete all these, along with all the perforated balustrades to stairs and voids.

In spite of it being a new build, the curved stairs still have to go in as modular sections which will then be assembled on site, as each full curved stair is too large to fit into the roll out deck. All site welds will be rigorously xray tested prior to our site finishing teams commencing their painting. Look out for more progress shots!
